ULYSSES PHILOMATHIC LIBRARY PROPOSITION:
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED, TO-WIT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Trumansburg Central School District, in the counties of Tompkins, Schuyler, and Seneca, New York, is hereby authorized to raise the tax levy by $4,511 (from $135,216 to $139,727) for the support of the Ulysses Philomathic Library, and such sum shall be paid annually to the trustees of said library.
New York State Education Law permits a school district to collect money to help support a chartered public library. In 2024, the voters approved a tax increase of $7,433 for the local library that remains in effect until another proposition is passed to change it. If this year’s proposition is approved, it will replace the 2024 proposition. The amount represents approximately 31% of the library’s annual operating budget.
