Support for Transgender Rights and Health Care

Caitlin Hunter, of PPGNY in Ithaca, is testifying on behalf of PPGNY on August 23rd in support proposing a package of legislation around transgender rights and healthcare. PPGNY would LOVE for League members to show our support in person!

This package is made up of:

1. A Resolution
   Declaring the City of Ithaca a Safe Haven for Gender-Affirming Healthcare through Adoption of a Gender-Affirming Healthcare Policy:
   This resolution would declare the city of Ithaca a Safe Haven for Gender-Affirming Healthcare and would ensure that healthcare providers and individuals do not face punishment for seeking or providing Gender-Affirming Healthcare.
2. An Ordinance
   Amending the Ithaca Municipal Code to include “Protection of Transgender and Gender Rights”:
   This ordinance would protect gender-affirming care and the right to seek gender-affirming care. It would also prevent the city of Ithaca from using resources from detaining persons seeking gender-affirming care.

Both pieces of legislation can be forwarded to interested members.

The committee will be meeting on August 23^th at 6pm on the 3^rd floor of City Hall – 108 E. Green Street in Ithaca.
