Change Makers from the Margins: Stories of Stepping into Power – An evening of civic engagement, voter registration, music and food!

Change Makers from the Margins: Stories of Stepping into Power
Come be inspired by local community members who didn’t give up when times were tough.
Be inspired to claim your right to vote and your own power on November 7th.
LWV-Tompkins County is hosting a community-centered event highlighting the importance of voting amongst all community members, with particular emphasis on the incarcerated and recently incarcerated. Speakers are Dr. Kenneth Clarke (Director, Ithaca Office of Human Rights), Mar’Quon Frederick (undergraduate student organizer), Willie Owens (sharing re-entry success story) and SingTrece who will also perform.
Your Voice + Your Vote, a new coalition focused on civic education, is a co-sponsor of the event. We hope you will become involved as well, and encourage the traditionally underserved communities you support to attend and learn why their vote is important and can make a difference when they use it. A goal of the evening is to register as many people to vote as possible.
This event is made possible by a grant from the LWV National Education Fund
