DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters believes one of the best ways for voters to learn about candidates seeking election to public office is to hear them speak and answer questions in a public forum. \nPlease join LWV of Tompkins County on Tuesday October 19 at 5:30pm\, for the City of Ithaca First Ward Virtual Candidate Forum. \nCandidates are Cynthia Brock\, Democratic Party and Maddie Halpert\, Solidarity Slate. The Forum will be moderated by LWV of Tompkins County Co-President Sally Grubb. \nTo join the Candidates’ Forum go to Zoom link  or watch YouTube live stream at https://youtu.be/xk0qbj3t51k.  The forum will be broadcast live on WRFI 88.1FM Ithaca\, 91.9 Watkins Glen\, and www.wrfi.org. DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters is a peoples’ organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our government and engage all Americans in the decisions that impact their lives. Formed from the movement that secured the right to vote for women\, the centerpiece of the League’s efforts remains to expand participation and give a voice to all. We do this at all three levels of government\, engaging in both broad educational efforts as well as advocacy. Our issues are grounded in our respected history of making democracy work for all Americans. \nTompkins County has a busy and vibrant chapter of League\, and we invite you to join us! On Wednesday\, October 20th at 5pm we will host a quick Zoom happy hour chat for you to get to know the League\, meet our members\, and learn about ways to get involved. \nYour participation in the League will expose you to a breadth of experiences and issues that will not keep you informed but it will create greater possibilities for civic engagement than you might imagine. \nThe Zoom link will be sent out the morning of the 20th. \nPlease Contact Megan Nettleton with any questions!
